How do you optimize the cooling power of your SugarLake Gear Co. cooler?
- PRE-COOL YOUR COOLER: Fill your cooler with ice and let it sit for ~ 24 hours. This cools down the interior, ensuring better ice retention. If it doesn’t feel cool after 24 hours, add more ice and let sit for a few more hours (this is helpful if your cooler is coming from a hot room or has been sitting in the sun)
- LAYER IN ICE: Packing more ice than food and drinks will help your stuff stay colder and your ice last longer. Layer it in! Start with a layer of ice, then food/drinks, then ice again.
- AVOID PACKING WARM ITEMS: Pack items that are pre-chilled. Warm food or drinks can raise the cooler's internal temperature and cause ice to melt faster.
- KEEP IT CLOSED: The longer the lid stays open, the quicker the ice will melt. Our tip is to keep the lid closed as much as possible.
- STAY OUT OF THE SUN: Keep your cooler out of direct sunlight and heat to prevent faster ice melt.
- DRAIN EXCESS WATER: Melted water takes up space and can speed up the ice-melting process. If you’re not using the water, drain it occasionally.
- Reminder: This cooler is not compatible with dry ice. Using dry ice can cause damage to the cooler and may result in an explosion due to the buildup of trapped gas. For safety reasons, please avoid using dry ice with this product.
